What is NAV data?
Navdata (also known as FMS Data) is a general purpose dataset used for in a wide array of applications ranging from flight planning systems in the operations office to various navigational and performance systems onboard.
Does Navigraph work with FSX?
Navigraph AIRAC updates are for add-ons to FS9, FSX and P3D and do not update these flightsims themselves. So whilst the add-ons will show real life data, these flightsims may well be out of date for certain airports. This could include changed runways, ILS frequencies etc.

Why is navigation updated every 28 days?
The navigation database (NDB) is normally updated every 28 days, in order to ensure that its contents are current. Each FMS contains only a subset of the ARINC / AIRAC data, relevant to the capabilities of the FMS.

Can you fly IFR with an expired GPS database?
Although you can fly en route IFR with an expired database, approaches are not authorized. It’s also interesting to note that Garmin says you can still file /G with an expired database. You may file your flight plan as /G if your 400W-series unit is an authorized IFR installation.
Can a pilot update a GPS database?
Under current regulations, a pilot operating such an aircraft under part 91 may update databases, while a pilot of the same type of aircraft with the same installed avionics equipment operated under parts 121, 129, or 135 cannot update databases.
